Originally from Feistritz, Austria, Mike Wiegele came to Canada in 1959. From carpenter to ski racer, from coach to guide and heli-entrepreneur, Mike always knew what he wanted from life. To live in the mountains, play on their slopes and to turn people on to the sublime joys of sliding through the snow in wintertime. Mike Wiegele still skis and guides guests safely through the mountains throughout the winter season – living true to his favourite saying “Let’s Go Skiing!”
Tim is entering his 15th season as a guide and 6th season a sales associate at the Resort and looks forward to many more years working with the Wiegele team. Dedicated to his passion of skiing and safety in the backcountry, Tim relishes every opportunity for adventurous tours throughout the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Tim also enjoys spending his leisure time at the numerous lakes around Blue River, fly fishing for fresh trout and salmon. Tim holds a Level 3 Certification from the Canadian Ski Instructor’s Alliance, a Level 3 Certification from the Canadian Ski Guide Association and a Level 2 Certification from the Canadian Avalanche Association.
Born in St-Jerome Quebec, Mike made his first inaugral trip to western Canada in 1995 and decided it was where his soul belonged. Skiing since the age of 11, Mike has worked diligently to become among only a handful of Canadians to have completed top certification with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance, the Canadian Ski Guides Association and the Canadian Avalanche Association. Now approaching a decade with Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing, Mike’s passion for the sport contibues to grow. “I’ve found my powder paradise! Stop-on by and I’ll gladly show you around the office.”
Born and raised in an area of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, known more for fiddle music and lobster rather than skiing, Ron Betts left the east coast over a decade ago to join the guiding team at Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing. A man enthralled by the natural elements, Ron takes every chance to enjoy the outdoors – skiing, surfing, dirt biking or hiking with his dog Cuilean. Ron looks forward to guiding you through countless runs and magnificent powder found only in Wiegele country.
